Medal of Honor
Congressional Nomination
Department of Defense regulations stipulate that a member of Congress must refer any Medal of Honor award recommendation to the Military Department concerned. On October 29, 2021, Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma nominated First Lieutenant Alan Ace Cozzalio for the Medal of Honor (MOH). This award recommendation was referred to the Army Awards and Decorations Branch at Fort Knox, KY.
Additionally, the staff of the following members of Congress have confirmed their support of the MOH nomination by pledging to submit a letter of endorsement:
- Senator Ted Cruz – Texas
- Senator Mike Rounds – South Dakota
- Senator Marsha Blackburn – Tennessee
- Senator Tom Cotton – Arkansas
- Representative Doug LaMalfa – California District 1
